Emergency
Care Consultants, PA (ECC) is a private group of emergency physicians
who provide exclusive coverage for the Abbott Northwestern Hospital
Emergency Department in Minneapolis, MN. All scribes are employees
of ECC, not the hospital.
The
Emergency Department
The
ED consists of 36 rooms and is staffed by 20 ER physicians and 6 nurse practitioners. We see more than 46,000 patients annually with a
wide variety of complaints and severity of illness.
As
the hospital is situated in an urban setting, we see patients from
all walks of life and from all economic and social backgrounds.
We also serve as a major tertiary care referral center in the 4-state
region which augments the complexity and acuity of the patients. The hospital is particularly renowned for cardiac care,
thus we see high volumes of patients with cardiac-related
conditions.
Abbott
Northwestern Hospital
ANW is a large
community and tertiary care facility with representation from most
specialties and subspecialties.
The
Abbott Northwestern Internal Medicine Residency program is based
here, and residents and fellows from various twin cities training
programs rotate regularly in the Emergency Department and throughout
the hospital. Emergency medicine residents are also able to spend
one-month rotations in our department.
ANW
is also a major teaching site for 3rd and 4th year U of MN medical
students for required emergency medicine and internal medicine clerkships.
